How often should you really wash your pillowcase?
Probably more often than you do. Here's the honest answer.
Quick poll: when did you last wash your pillowcase? If you had to think about it, this one's for you.
The answer
- Once a week for most people.
- Every two to three nights if you're breakout-prone, use a lot of hair product, or occasionally (no judgment) sleep in your makeup.
Why so often?
Your pillowcase spends every night collecting oil, sweat, skincare, hair product and dead skin. A fresh surface is just kinder to your face.
Two pillowcases on rotation is the easiest clean-skin habit there is.
Make it easy on yourself
Keep two pillowcases per pillow so there's always a clean one ready. Pick two different colors and you'll always know which one is due.
And the pillow itself?
Use a pillow protector under your pillowcase, and wash or replace your pillows every year or two.
The short version
Wash your pillowcase weekly, or every few nights if you're breakout-prone. Keeping two on rotation makes it easy.
